DESCRIPTION:Writing Black Feminism is a retrospective of Black feminist mo
vements across lands and time. Officially emerging in the nineteenth centu
ry in the United States\, Black feminism was born out of the convergence o
f intersecting struggles: those of women engaged both against sexism and a
gainst institutionalized racism.\nThe movement subsequently spread to othe
r regions of the world\, notably to England in the 1970s. There\, women de
nounced violations of their rights\, systemic racism\, and police violence
. They also highlighted their exclusion from mainstream feminist movements
\, largely dominated by white women\, as well as from antiracist movements
  often led by men.
