DESCRIPTION:In the context of rapid development and transition of the hydr
ogen sector\, there is a recent and increasing demand for environmental as
sessment of hydrogen production and use\, using the Life Cycle Assessment
(LCA) method. To meet the ambition to use LCA results to guide decision-ma
king\, there is a need to develop tools to better model complex systems in
an unknown future.\nTherefore\, a study has been conducted by Mines Paris
-PSL and the Paul Scherrer Institute to answer the following question:\nHo
w to better assess the environmental impact of future hydrogen production?
\n \nThe study conducted focuses on the production of hydrogen by elect
rolysis in France by 2050 and aims to:\n\nGive recommendations to guide me
thodological choices for modeling LCA of hydrogen production\nPresent mode
ling options that aim to incorporate prospective\, temporal and spatial co
nsiderations in the modeling of future scenarios and show how these choice
s affect the results.\nIllustrate what is possible to do with the open-sou
rce Python libraries available for LCA\, including generating a web platfo
rm.\n\n \nBelow are listed the Python libraries that were used and what t
hey were used for:\n\nPremise : modeling prospective markets for electrici
ty.\nlca_algebraic and Brightway: developing parameterized life cycle inve
 ntories for hydrogen production.\nStreamlit : creating a user-friendly web
platform that requires no coding skills to be used.\n\n \nDetailed conte
nt\nThe detailed content will expand upon the material presented at the SE
TAC Gothenburg conference\, in October 2024\, providing more in-depth anal
ysis and elaborating on each modeling decision made during the LCA:\n\nPar
 t I : Romain Sacchi - IAM models and global prospective scenarios.\nPart
II : Joanna Schlesinger – French prospective scenario modelling based
on RTE study\, Futurs Energétiques 2050.\nPart III : Juliana Steinbach
 – Prospective Hydrogen Production.\n\n \nOrganizers\nCollaborators of t
he project and organizers of the event:\n\nCentre Observation\, Impacts\,
 Energie - Mines Paris – PSL & ARMINES\, France\nCentre ISIGE – Mines P
 aris - PSL & ARMINES\, France \nPaul Scherrer Institute\, Switzerland \n
\nWith the support of French national Agency for Ecological Transition - A
DEME\n \nThis webinar is organized in the frame of HySPI Project: Hydr
ogène industriel - Scénarios Prospectifs des Impacts environnementaux
(Industrial Hydrogen - Prospective Scenarios for Environmental impacts) f
inanced by ADEME (Convention n°2197D0085).\n \nContacts\n-
